- QL Biopharm, Phase 2 results for zovaglutide (ZT-002) presented at EASD 2025 (company press release)(2025)Read this knowing what it is: a company announcement of data presented at a conference, not a peer-reviewed publication. That is also the only record there is, because the drug is still investigational. The trial was randomised, double blind and placebo controlled in 303 overweight or obese adults, all in China, over 24 weeks. Weight fell 10.6, 13.8, 12.5 and 14.4 percent across four dose arms against 2.4 percent on placebo. The result that matters for the once-monthly claim is narrower: the 160 mg monthly arm matched the 80 mg fortnightly arm on weight loss while causing fewer gastrointestinal side effects at the same monthly total, which is the case for spacing doses further apart. The company also reports that weight loss had not plateaued at 24 weeks, which means both that the curve was still falling and that the trial was short. A Phase 3 is underway.
