This page does arithmetic on the numbers you type in. It does not recommend a dose, and a result that looks normal is not a sign that a dose is safe or right for you.

How this math works

Three numbers, one answer

A milligram is 1,000 micrograms

250 mcg and 0.25 mg are the same amount written two ways. Getting these mixed up moves a dose by a factor of a thousand, and it is the most dangerous arithmetic error in the whole process.

Water gives the powder a volume

Dry powder cannot be measured in a syringe. Adding water spreads a known amount of peptide through a known amount of liquid. A 5 mg vial with 2 mL of water holds 2.5 mg in every millilitre.

Units measure liquid

A standard insulin syringe has 100 marks to the millilitre, so one mark is a hundredth of a millilitre. The marks say nothing about strength. Two draws to the same mark can hold very different amounts of peptide.

Worked example

A 5 mg vial, mixed with 2 mL of bacteriostatic water, drawn on a standard 1 mL syringe.

Common questions

Is a unit the same as a milligram?

No. A unit is a mark on the syringe barrel and it measures liquid. How much peptide sits inside one mark depends entirely on how much water went into the vial. The same 10 unit draw holds twice the peptide if you used half the water.

My syringe says 0.5 mL. Is that a different scale?

No. Nearly every insulin syringe sold is a U-100 scale whatever its barrel size, so a mark is worth the same amount of liquid on all of them. A 0.3 mL barrel holds 30 marks, a 0.5 mL holds 50, and a 1 mL holds 100. U-40 syringes exist and are mostly used for veterinary insulin. The barrel will say U-40 on it if you have one.

Why did my draw come out at 1.5 units?

Very small draws are hard to measure by eye and one wobble becomes a real error. More water in the vial spreads the same dose across more marks, so the draw gets easier to see. A smaller barrel does the same thing.

I already injected. Can this tell me what I took?

Yes, that is converter three running backwards. Enter the vial size, the water you added, and the number of units you drew, and it works back to the amount of peptide in that draw. If the answer looks wrong, check the mcg and mg boxes first, because that is usually where it went wrong.

Does this tell me how much to take?

No. It does arithmetic on the numbers you enter. It does not know your health, your medications, or whether a compound is appropriate for you at all.
