What is GZC8072?
Plain language first. The technical label stays, but it never stands alone.Overview
Oral semaglutide is a daily peptide pill and orforglipron is a daily non-peptide pill; this aims for a weekly peptide tablet, using two in-house platforms for long action and gut absorption that the company has not described. A phase 1 in China started in September 2026. Its structure, doses and animal data are undisclosed, and it is not approved anywhere.
What it's used for
An experimental once-weekly GLP-1 tablet for weight management and type 2 diabetes. In phase 1, with no human data.
How does GZC8072 work?
What it does in the body, and where.Gan & Lee says GZC8072 is based on native GLP-1, made long-acting with its NovaPeptide platform and absorbable by mouth with its SupOraTide platform.
- 01GLP-1 receptorLike other GLP-1 drugs, it is meant to slow stomach emptying, blunt appetite and raise insulin after meals.
- 02Getting through the gutPeptides are mostly destroyed in the gut. Oral semaglutide uses the absorption enhancer SNAC and still absorbs only 0.4 to 1%. How SupOraTide works has not been disclosed.
- 03Weekly by mouthThe company claims a longer half-life and much better oral bioavailability, without numbers. Its Chinese filing also calls the molecule 'biased' without saying what that means.
Acts on one receptor.
What else is it used for?
Each group carries its own evidence level.Approved means regulators have cleared it for that purpose. Investigational means it is in trials. Early research means it is being studied and is not established.
Phase 1
Investigational- No dataSingle doses in healthy adults, then multiple doses for about 8 weeks in adults with overweight or obesity, against placebo. Weight, waist and glucose are secondary measures.
- No dataThe release says 112 participants at several centres; the registry says 126 at one hospital.
- No dataNo preclinical numbers (animal weight loss, half-life or bioavailability) have been published.
Weight-loss figures circulating for Gan & Lee's GLP-1 drugs belong to bofanglutide (GZR18), a separate injection, not this tablet. The phase 1 size is 112 in the release and 126 on ClinicalTrials.gov, and the release calls it multicentre while the registry lists one site. It is a peptide, unlike orforglipron. 'Enhanced intrinsic GLP-1 receptor activity' is trade-press wording; the company says only 'enhanced intrinsic activity'.

Nothing published
How much, and do you cycle it?
The range, and whether you take breaks. No dose disclosed, weekly (intended). No established pattern No range
No human schedule beyond the phase 1 has been published; the stated target is one tablet a week.
How long does it stay in the body?
The half-life, and where the figure comes from.Nothing publishedNo figure
The company claims a prolonged half-life without numbers. The phase 1 will measure it.

What does it cost?
Typical dose and cost, in plain numbers.GZC8072 is not injected
It is taken by mouth (tablet). No doses have been disclosed in the registry or company releases. The company intends a once-weekly tablet. Any dose offered for it would be invented.
How do you store it?
Before mixing, and after.Dry powder in the freezer or fridge. Once mixed, fridge, and use within about a month.
Unmixed lyophilized GZC8072 keeps for a long time cold. Once you add water the clock starts: most reconstituted vials hold up for roughly 28 to 30 days at fridge temperature. Keep it out of light, and do not freeze it after mixing.
What are the side effects and cautions?
Known cautions and warnings for this compound.Who should avoid it
- A personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or MEN 2, excluded from its trial as for every GLP-1 drug
- Past pancreatitis, symptomatic gallbladder disease or high-risk gallstones
- Reduced kidney function (eGFR below 90), excluded from the phase 1
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
Stop and get help

Is GZC8072 approved?
And where the numbers on this page come from.No. GZC8072 is not approved anywhere and is currently in company-run clinical trials. There is no legal route to obtain it outside a trial.

What has happened recently
Not approved anywhere. China's NMPA approved trials for weight control in August 2026, and an approval for glucose control was reported in September 2026 (secondary sources only). The phase 1 (NCT07784699; China registry CTR20263271 by inference) started on 2 September 2026 at Beijing Shijitan Hospital: single doses in healthy adults, then multiple doses in adults with overweight or obesity, with 126 participants estimated on ClinicalTrials.gov against 112 in the company release. No US IND or designations were found.
