How do you store it?

Before mixing, and after.

Dry powder in the freezer or fridge. Once mixed, fridge, and use within about a month.

Unmixed lyophilized Humanin keeps for a long time cold. Once you add water the clock starts: most reconstituted vials hold up for roughly 28 to 30 days at fridge temperature. Keep it out of light, and do not freeze it after mixing.

  • Yen et al., Humanin prevents age-related cognitive decline in mice and is associated with improved cognitive age in humans (Scientific Reports 8:14212)(2018)
    The title joins two halves that were done on different things, and the join is where the marketing happens. The mouse half gave HNG, an analogue with glycine substituted for serine at position 14, not humanin, by intraperitoneal injection at 4 mg/kg twice weekly to female mice from 18 months of age. Rotarod performance was better after six months of treatment, but at ten months the same difference had shrunk and was no longer significant. The maze results rest on small subsets, seven to eight animals per group on the Barnes maze and ten per group on the Y-maze, and there was no difference in hippocampal neurogenesis. The human half involved no administration at all: plasma humanin was measured in 71 African American and 75 Caucasian American participants, a mitochondrial variant (rs2854128) was associated with roughly 14% lower circulating humanin, and that variant tracked with cognitive age in a separate cohort. The authors state plainly that the human findings are correlative. Two of them disclose consulting for and stock in a company developing humanin analogues.

    Pharmacokinetics for this family do exist, and knowing what they cover is the point. The peptides injected were the analogues HNG and HNGF6A rather than humanin itself, given intraperitoneally to male mice and male Sprague Dawley rats. Half-life differed by species, longer in rats than in mice, and differed by analogue, with HNGF6A lasting longer than HNG in wild-type mice. The tissue distribution is the part worth reading twice: in rats the peptide was highest in plasma, present in liver, and undetectable in brain and heart. A compound sold on brain and heart protection was not measurably reaching either organ in the one study that looked. Sex was male throughout, species was rodent, and one author was affiliated with a company developing these analogues commercially.
