How does Ecnoglutide work?

- 02The design is also about manufacturingIt is built from natural amino acids only, with a single substitution and a fatty acid chain, which the developers describe as simplifying production compared with other analogs.
- 03The half-life supports weekly dosingSteady-state half-life is reported at 124 to 138 hours, comparable to the other weekly GLP-1 drugs.

Weight loss
Clinical use- In the SLIMMER Phase 3 trial, 664 Chinese adults with overweight or obesity received once-weekly ecnoglutide at 1.2, 1.8 or 2.4 mg or placebo for 48 weeks. At the highest dose, participants lost up to 13.8 kg against roughly 200 g on placebo, with 92.8% losing at least 5% of body weight against 14% on placebo. Reported weight loss was 15.1% at 48 weeks with no plateau evident.
- Participants largely maintained the loss after stopping, regaining around 1% of body weight over seven weeks, which is a notably different pattern from the semaglutide withdrawal data.
Blood sugar
Clinical use- In the EECOH-1 Phase 3 trial, 211 participants with type 2 diabetes across 32 centers received 0.6 or 1.2 mg weekly or placebo for 24 weeks, with HbA1c at week 24 as the primary endpoint.
Sold by research vendors as a next-generation GLP-1 without noting that it is approved in China and nowhere else. Approval by China's regulator does not predict FDA approval and does not place a drug on the US market. A vial bought from a website is also not the approved product.
