What is ASC36?
Plain language first. The technical label stays, but it never stands alone.Overview
It copies amylin, the fullness hormone released with insulin, the same idea as cagrilintide and petrelintide. In obese rats it cut weight faster than those rivals over a week of injections, and a depot dose lasted about a month in monkeys. Phase 1 trials of the injection and the tablet began in the US in August and September 2026. There are no human results.
ASC36 is an amylin receptor peptide agonist from Ascletis Pharma. The company uses the same code for a once-monthly injection held in a self-assembling lipid depot, a once-daily tablet, and a single monthly injection combined with its GLP-1/GIP peptide ASC35. The company describes them as one peptide in different formulations; its sequence, structure and receptor potency have not been disclosed.
What it's used for
An experimental obesity drug, in early safety trials as a monthly injection and as a daily tablet. Not available outside those trials.
How does ASC36 work?
What it does in the body, and where.ASC36 is meant to act like amylin, the fullness hormone the pancreas releases alongside insulin.
- 01The amylin signalAmylin receptors are calcitonin receptors paired with helper proteins, found in the brainstem's appetite centre. Switching them on slows stomach emptying and brings fullness sooner. This is class pharmacology: Ascletis has published no receptor potency for ASC36.
- 02Long-acting depotThe injection is a low-viscosity mix of lipids, solvent and drug that sets into a gel under the skin and releases the peptide slowly. In monkeys the observed half-life of this formulation was about 32 days, a measure of the depot as much as the molecule.
- 03The tabletA separate oral technology lets some of the peptide cross the gut: absorption was 6 to 8% in monkeys, with a half-life of 116 to 167 hours.

What else is it used for?
Each group carries its own evidence level.Approved means regulators have cleared it for that purpose. Investigational means it is in trials. Early research means it is being studied and is not established.
Rats
Early research- Animal studyObese rats injected every two days for a week lost 10.01% against 5.25% on the same dose of petrelintide.
- Animal studyAt a lower dose, 9.6% against 7.3% on eloralintide. These are company figures from one-week studies.
Monkeys
Early research- Animal studyThe depot injection's observed half-life was 768 hours (about 32 days); petrelintide in plain buffer was 135 hours.
- Animal studyDaily tablets for 7 days: up to 13.2% weight loss in the best group, with 6 to 8% of the dose absorbed.
In people
Investigational- No dataThree US phase 1 trials started in August and September 2026; no results, doses or registry numbers have been released.
The 10 August 2026 announcement covered two phase 1 trials, not one: ASC36 alone and the ASC35 combination. The tablet trial started on 8 September, not the 29th; that number is a web address suffix. The monkey half-life has been quoted as 15 days, 32 days, 'six times petrelintide', 'six times eloralintide' and 781 hours as releases changed formulation and comparator, and each compares a depot with a rival in plain solution. The rat head-to-head results came from injection, not the tablet, and are relative differences: 10.01% against 5.25% is reported as '91% greater'. ASC37 is a separate triple agonist, not the ASC36 and ASC35 combination; ASC39 is Ascletis's separate small-molecule amylin pill, and ASC30 is its small-molecule GLP-1 drug. 'Best-in-class' is the company's own label.

How much, and do you cycle it?
The range, and whether you take breaks. No human dose disclosed, monthly injection or daily tablet (intended). No established pattern No range
Designed for monthly to quarterly injection or a daily tablet; no human schedule has been tested beyond phase 1.
How long does it stay in the body?
The half-life, and where the figure comes from. Not published in peopleNo figure
In monkeys the depot injection showed an observed half-life of about 32 days (768 hours) and the tablet 116 to 167 hours. Depot figures largely reflect slow release from the gel. The phase 1 trials will measure it in people.

How do I dose and price it?
Enter your vial and your dose. Pick a mix. We show the draw and the cost. The vial holds a fixed amount of drug. Adding more water does not make more drug, it just spreads it thinner, so you draw a bigger number on the syringe for the same dose.
Choose your mix
Measuring the water1 mL = one full 100-unit syringe.
How do you store it?
Before mixing, and after.Dry powder in the freezer or fridge. Once mixed, fridge, and use within about a month.
Unmixed lyophilized ASC36 keeps for a long time cold. Once you add water the clock starts: most reconstituted vials hold up for roughly 28 to 30 days at fridge temperature. Keep it out of light, and do not freeze it after mixing.
What are the side effects and cautions?
Known cautions and warnings for this compound.Who should avoid it
- Use outside the phase 1 trials: no human safety data have been released
- Combining it with other weight-loss drugs outside a trial; only the ASC35 combination is being studied
- A body mass index under 27: the trials enrol only people with obesity, or overweight with a related condition
Stop and get help
- Not applicable outside the trials. No product exists and no human side-effect profile has been published
Common effects
- No human data have been published
- Approved and late-stage amylin drugs most often cause nausea, vomiting and injection-site reactions; this has not been measured for ASC36
Where this page says nothing is established, that means nobody has studied it, not that a compound is safe.
Is ASC36 approved?
And where the numbers on this page come from.No. ASC36 is not approved anywhere and is currently in company-run clinical trials. There is no legal route to obtain it outside a trial.

What has happened recently
Not approved anywhere; furthest stage phase 1. Ascletis (HKEX: 1672) chose the monthly injection as a candidate in October 2025 and the tablet in February 2026. On 10 August 2026 it said FDA had cleared two INDs and two US phase 1 studies had started, one of ASC36 alone and one of the ASC35 combination; the tablet's phase 1 began on 8 September 2026. No ClinicalTrials.gov numbers, doses or IND dates have been released, and there is no FDA GSRS record or INN. Injection pharmacokinetic results are expected by the end of 2026. No designations have been reported.
