01

What is ACE-031 (Ramatercept)?

Plain language first. The technical label stays, but it never stands alone.

Overview

By mopping up those brakes it lets muscle grow, but its development was paused over side effects.

The technical version

ACE-031 (ramatercept) is a decoy receptor that soaks up myostatin and activin, the signals that limit muscle.

What it's used for

An experimental muscle-builder that soaks up the natural brakes on muscle, producing big gains in studies.

02

How does ACE-031 (Ramatercept) work?

What it does in the body, and where.

ACE-031 is a decoy: a piece of the receptor that myostatin binds to, floating free in the blood so myostatin binds it instead of muscle.

  1. 01
It soaks up myostatin and activin
Both signals that limit muscle growth, intercepted before they reach the receptor.
  2. 02
    Muscle grew in trials
It reached phase 2 in Duchenne muscular dystrophy and did increase muscle mass.
  3. 03
Development was stopped over blood vessel effects
Nosebleeds, gum bleeding, and small dilated vessels in the skin. Activin signalling turns out to matter for blood vessels as well as muscle.
  4. 04
    It is here for reference
This is a discontinued drug, not an option.

03

What else is it used for?

Each use below carries its own evidence level. Approved means regulators have cleared it for that purpose. Investigational means it is in trials. Early research means it is being studied and is not established.

  • Duchenne muscular dystrophy, where the trial was halted in 2011 over bleeding side effectsInvestigational

How much, and do you cycle it?

The range, and whether you take breaks.

Trial doses, cycled. No schedule exists. Development was haltedTrial dose

Stopped in 2013 during phase 2 in Duchenne muscular dystrophy after nosebleeds and small vessel changes appeared. Whatever schedules circulate for it, none survived the trials.

How long does it stay in the body?

The half-life, and where the figure comes from.

About 10 to 15 daysHuman study

Mean half-life of 10 to 15 days after one subcutaneous dose in healthy postmenopausal women. It is a single-dose figure in a population nothing like the people who buy this, and no half-life was ever published from the Duchenne trial, which was stopped early.

How do I dose and price it?

Enter your vial and your dose. Pick a mix. We show the draw and the cost.

The vial holds a fixed amount of drug. Adding more water does not make more drug, it just spreads it thinner, so you draw a bigger number on the syringe for the same dose.

07

How do you store it?

Before mixing, and after.

Dry powder in the freezer or fridge. Once mixed, fridge, and use within about a month.

Unmixed lyophilized ACE-031 (Ramatercept) keeps for a long time cold. Once you add water the clock starts: most reconstituted vials hold up for roughly 28 to 30 days at fridge temperature. Keep it out of light, and do not freeze it after mixing.

08

What are the side effects and cautions?

Known cautions and warnings for this compound.

Who should avoid it

Check these before anything else.
  • Any bleeding disorder, or a personal or family history of unusual bleeding
  • Development was halted, so it is not available and nobody is assessing anyone for it

Stop and get help

These are emergencies. Seek care.
  • Unusual nosebleeds
  • Bleeding gums
  • New spidery blood vessels appearing on the skin
  • Signs of an allergic reaction such as face or throat swelling, hives, or trouble breathing

Common effects

Expected, and usually mild.
  • Nosebleeds and gum bleeding, which is why the trial was stopped
  • Small dilated blood vessels visible in the skin
  • The mechanism also blocks proteins that keep blood vessels stable, so this was a design problem rather than a dosing one

Where this page says nothing is established, that means nobody has studied it, not that a compound is safe.

09

Is ACE-031 (Ramatercept) approved?

And where the numbers on this page come from.

No. ACE-031 (Ramatercept) is not approved for any use, anywhere. It is sold labelled for laboratory research only, and there is no legal route to buy it for human use.
