- Avolio et al., Peptides Regulating Proliferative Activity and Inflammatory Pathways in the Monocyte/Macrophage THP-1 Cell Line (International Journal of Molecular Sciences 23:3607)(2022)Thymogen is the dipeptide Glu-Trp, separated from the thymus extract Thymalin by chromatography, and in this experiment it was the strongest performer on one specific measure: it cut the adhesion of monocytes to inflamed endothelial cells almost to the level of uninflamed control, and it was the most effective of the five at reducing IL-17 release. It also increased proliferative signalling and reduced TNF and IL-6. Two limits belong on this alongside the result. Everything here is a human leukemia cell line incubated overnight at 100 ng/mL, with no animal or human data, and Khavinson and two colleagues from his Saint Petersburg institute are co-authors, so this is not the independent replication this family of compounds still lacks.
