Not approved anywhere. Boehringer Ingelheim develops it under license from Zealand Pharma. For MASH with fibrosis, the FDA granted Fast Track designation in May 2021 and Breakthrough Therapy designation in September 2024, the EMA accepted it into its PRIME scheme in November 2023, and China's NMPA (June 2024) and Taiwan's FDA (September 2024) granted breakthrough designations; none of these covers obesity. Two 76-week phase 3 weight trials were published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2026: SYNCHRONIZE-1, in adults without diabetes, on June 7, and SYNCHRONIZE-2, in adults with type 2 diabetes, on October 1. The heart-outcomes trial SYNCHRONIZE-CVOT is due to report later in 2026, and the LIVERAGE phase 3 in MASH has been recruiting since October 2024.
